Mixed Metals
Mixed metal sculptures are made from a combination
of Bonded Bronze and Bonded Aluminum. Additionally, in some instances,
various colors of Bonded Bronze have been combined by using different
alloys of bronze particles in the emulsion. Bonded Bronze and
Mixed Metal sculptures are easily maintained by dusting them and
occasionally wiping them with a damp, soft cloth. |

Mixed Metals / Clear
Mixed metal sculptures, combining elements in
clear resin, are, once again, made from a combination of Bonded
Bronze and Bonded Aluminum. Once cast and patinaed, the elements
designated to be clear are then cast onto the sculptures, i.e.,
the clear veil on the Mysterious Veiled sculpture illustrated.
Bonded Bronze and Mixed Metal sculptures incorporating clear resin
part are also easily maintained by dusting or wiping them with
a damp cloth. |

Bonded Bronze
For the Bonded Bronze material, Mack uses finely-ground
bronze with a resin bonder. In the inverted mold, the heavier
bronze particles migrate through the resin resulting in a high
density of bronze on the surface of the sculpture. The sculpture
is etched and polished, and a patina is achieved that has the
same appearance as a molten Cast Bronze sculpture...but, without
the weight. |

Bonded Sand
This material is made from resin that has been
impregnated with an extremely fine, pure white sand. The sand
gives the material added strength, and is very stone-like in appearance.
On many of the earlier Bill Mack images, the sand has also been
bonded to the surface. The surfaces of newer images have been
finished in a very durable matte while coating which makes them
easy to maintain. |

Natural Sand
Natural Sand is similar to Bonded Sand. However,
in Natural Sand, the artist uses a darker, neutral color sand
that is considerably more granular than the fine white sand in
Bonded Sand. The resulting surface is marble-like in appearance
and is extremely strong and durable. It is also easy to care for,
using a damp cloth to periodically clean the surface. |
