Florentine
Art Glass...
About the Artists...
Florentine Tabletop Designer G. Butteri has blended
the elegance of mouth-blown glass shapes such as amphorae, Medici cups,
ginger jars, tureens, ball vases and other classic shapes with the most
unique floral patterns (Blue hydrangeas, Pink jasmine, Roses, Peonies…).
A frosty antique glass background is first hand-painted by Butteri himself.
Floral frescoes are then painstakingly applied on the piece. In his
search for the best artisans specializing in classical glass painting,
Butteri actually recruited 3 members of his family: His wife Sonia along
with Sonia’s sisters Ligia and Maria, all Florence Art Academy
graduates whose training had originally focused on Alabaster, a prime
material in this part of Tuscany.
Some of the floral motifs decorating our centerpieces are reproductions
of century old frescoes or friezes found in Italian palazzi and now
catalogued in architectural books. The “dipinto a mano”
mention (“hand-painted”) along with the painter’s
signature gracefully appear in gold on most consequential pieces. In
order to guarantee longevity all pieces are fired after artistic completion.
