Tuesday,October 20th-Saturday, October 24th
Teri Galleries, Ltd. In Metairie, LA announced today that it will hold a silent auction of two William Hemmerling originals with 15% of proceeds being donated to the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans (CAGNO.org).
William Hemmerling, who passed away after his own battle with cancer in May of this year, is a world-renowned Southern Folk artist who resided in New Orleans. His African American “Sweet Olive” series captures the essence of old-time southern life and is notably his most popular thematic concept.
Teri Galleries will be auctioning one of the very first original “Sweet Olive” paintings created by Hemmerling, as well as a rare Native American original painted by Hemmerling in the early 1990’s. Both originals are in immaculate condition and are considered highly collectible. “As a breast cancer survivor, I really wanted to do something outstanding to contribute to breast cancer awareness month,” states Sandy Kasten, owner of Teri Galleries, Ltd. “The opportunity to use these rare paintings to raise funds for the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans and their educational efforts means a great deal to me and my family. I know that William would be honored to be selected for the silent auction.”
The auction will be held online at www.TeriGalleries.com beginning Tuesday, October 20th and closing at 6pm CST on Saturday, October 24th. The highest bid for each piece will be announced immediately upon close of the auction. Bids will also be accepted via telephone by calling Teri Galleries at 504-887-8588.
“In honor of breast cancer awareness month, I encourage bidders to open their hearts and bid aggressively,” comments Sandy Kasten. “These oils are well worth the investment and are among the very few remaining Hemmerling originals available on the market. I envy whomever wins these beautiful works.”
Teri Galleries, Ltd. will also donate 10% of all sales within the gallery to CAGNO during the month of October. To learn more about Teri Galleries or to participate in the silent auction, please visit www.TeriGalleries.com or call 504-887-8588.
