Here is a beautiful group of new originals by Irene Sheri capturing the warmth of family and femininity

Irene Sheri drew her inspiration from the work of Botticelli, Chagall, Kandinsky, Picasso, and Goya. However Cezanne and Matisse made the deepest impact. Avant-garde Russian students, Falk, Konchalovsky, Mashkov, Lentulov, were followers of these French artists. Calling themselves the “Jack of Diamonds”, a name proposed by Larionov (a member), suggested not only the roguish behavior of the avant-garde, but conveyed a love of popular graphic art forms…such as vintage printed playing cards.

At school, Irene experimented with images and colors, allowing herself to paint landscapes with contrasts of light and shadow similar to the “Russian Expressionistic Movement” of artistic predecessors. Irene’s style evolved from the influence of a renegade professor, who told his students – “After so many years at school you now are able to copy the world surrounding you. It is about time you let yourself create a world that is totally yours, that comes from within your soul”.

Irene’s paintings express her love of life, a toast to its wonder and beauty. Sheri’s talent and style were recognized in 2001 when she was awarded Russia’s highest artistic honor, the “State Award for Outstanding Achievement in Art”, naming her as the “Best and Brightest” young artist in Russia.

New Originals Available from Artist Royo!

September 5th, 2012

Teri Galleries is proud to present MUJERES. A new series of Originals by Royo. Here is the story of Mujeres’ series.

ROYO has, throughout his illustrious career, painted beautiful women in lush surroundings. These are his favorite subjects, and he imparts love and honor to his chosen subjects with great reverence and to international acclaim. Over the years he has also had some slight departure from the imagery for which he is so renowned by , for example, painting non-figurative subjects such as florals, seascapes and landscapes. He will also, every few years, take on a more definitive thematic challenge and concentrate on new topics which are of interest to him. Among these have been his “Sagittas” series, “Harem”, “Ingravidos”, and “Equus”. Each of these thematic, and more academic, endeavors have led to a new book and to multiple international museum exhibitions, adding to his continued collectability and to his fame.

Within the past few years Royo decided to show honor to his models, and to his very special relationship with each of them, and decided to create an extraordinary homage to them. Normally his models are utilized by the Master as a point of departure for his compositions, posing so that he can convey the essence of a Woman within his paintings, but not to create portraiture. Often the models eyes would be averted, as collectors are so familiar with, so that he could “capture” that spirit without personalization.

In his “Mujeres” series, he engaged his models eye-to-eye, and in different costumes than he would normally use. He wished to convey the individual personality of each of his beloved friends. The relationship between Royo and his models is very intimate and intense, yet of great comfort to both. So in his “Mujeres” series, created over more than a year of effort, he created this unique homage to each of them. The first showing of the “Mujeres” was in a museum in his hometown of Valencia, Spain, the “Palau de la Musica” in 2008. The exhibition was an enormous success.

Royo decided that he wished to show further honor to the models by creating a very exceptional series of limited editions featuring the works of “Mujeres”. He has chosen just 3 of the more than 25 images for the first releases, and they are being released as a suite. They have been produced in portfolio in a small edition of only 150 worldwide, signed and numbered. As with all of Royo’s book and print creations, the production values are extraordinary. The prints themselves are each 26″ x 16″ unframed. They are mixed media with serigraph and texture coats, laminated onto hard board, so that they can each be framed without glass.

The portfolio is presented in a specially-designed hard case. Also included is a wonderful 75-page table-top book, illustrating the museum show and all of the paintings in the collection, as well as candid photos of the artist and his models. The book is signed by Royo.
